Just like people, it is important for pets to get a physical every year to make sure everything is in working order. With regular check-ups, illness and disease can be detected earlier. Earlier detection may mean treatment will be easier, less expensive and may have a higher success rate.
Routine dental checkups are an important part of your pet’s preventative care and medical treatment. Dental disease can contribute to other health issues throughout the body, especially the heart and kidneys.
It is important to watch for signs like bad breath, difficulty eating and drinking, appetite loss or loose teeth as these can be signs that your pet is in need of dental treatment.
Dental cleanings and x-rays, which can find issues under the gumline that may not be detectable during a general checkup, are available on-site.

There are some illnesses are not immediately obvious through a regular checkup. Upper East Veterinary Center offers in-house blood work for cats and dogs to check for common issues.
When necessary, we can also perform x-rays onsite to check for issues with soft tissues, swallowed foreign objects or bone fractures.
